Mrs. Davis

Hello Washington Tigers,

I would like to share a little about myself. I am a Sherman alumni since the age of 4 and a proud 1988 graduate of Sherman High School. I attended Grayson County College then transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University to complete my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. This is my 20th year at Washington Elementary in first grade. I absolutely love what I do and the first graders that become 'my kids' every year make such an impact on my heart with their successes. I am currently lead teacher for the first grade team. The first grade team has been district team of the month several times which show that teamwork makes the dream work!  I became Reading Recovery certified through Texas Women's University in 2004-2005, ESL certified in 2003, and have 30 hours of GT training with yearly 6 hour follow-ups. I have had the honor of being Washington teacher of the year in 2003-2004 and 2011-2012, Applebee's teacher of the month in ARIL 2013, as well as, Kay Country 93.1/MadRock 102.5 teacher of the month in March 2013.

Personally, I have been married to my best friend for 30 years. We have two grown, married children and four grandsons. My husband and I enjoy taking road trips and driving back country roads with an ice cream cone from Braum's or eating at small town, non-chain restaurants.

I love to read any recommended drama or mystery books from friends, watch old movies, mystery, history or travel shows, and take weekend naps.
Fun family school fact: Almost all family members are Bearcat alumni! Also, my husband's maternal grandparents both worked at Washington Elementary: grandfather was principal and grandmother was a fourth grade teacher.

I truly believe I was meant to be a Washington Tiger! It's a TERRIFIC campus!!!

Much love,
Mrs. Davis
